It seems that there is not a big difference or comparison between Python vs Java jobs or salary. Both are very popular programming languages so if you gain decent expertise in either, you can start working as a software developer and website developer to start your career. Availability of Jobs or Salary should not be your criteria for choosing Python or Java or any other programming language, choose the one that you could understand and relate to better and easy to learn.
Conclusion
Python is a more productive and understandable language than Java. Python is easier to read, use, and learn and is vastly used in the scientific community. Both Java and Python are capable, so there won't be a lack of resources once you choose one. If you are a beginner then it would be better to go with python because it's very easy and uses English-like syntax, if your goal is to build enterprise-level applications coming from a C/C++ world, then switch to Java because it would probably feel pretty familiar to you.
