Web Development -Overview and Languages

Want to be a web developer!

Before that let’s check out some important information about web development.

Websites that are mostly used these days and web developers are extremely in high demand. If you are thinking of going into the field of web development, this is a good option as it increases the demand to become a web developer due to the increasing use of websites. This blog helps you understand web development better.

What is web development?

Web development refers a building , maintaining, and creating websites and Web developers who develop that website. They work on many aspects of website such as working of websites, functionalities, web page design, testing…etc. The two categories of web developer are on a web development, which is a front end developer and a back end developer. They both have different roles in this area. The front end of a website is everything the user sees and experiences. The back end  of a website work behind the scenes to enable the front end.

Web design:

It is similar to a web developer,  but it has a completely different role in it. Web design content skills such as graphics design, user experience design, interface design, and search engine optimization etc. It mainly focuses on the designing of the website, how the website looks, the appearance of the website or it's layout.

Front end development

Front end development focuses on a client-side environment. it define how your website looks and it’s visual side their user interact with the site. The front end works to create a website's interactive user interface. The challenging part in the front end developer is that the website is responsive and does not cause any problems with any device and browser in the market.

Many different languages used in Front end web development.

1. HTML/CSS

HTML and CSS is backbone of any website.

HTML stands for hypertext markup language. It is a scripting language. HTML makes up the layout and structure for your websiteIt is responsible for a layout of websites and positioning the element which are also called HTML tags.

CSS stands for cascading style sheet. It provides the style and help them to look better and more visually appealing. CSS includes details like font declarations, sizing, color, on-page placements, and layering precedence.

 2. JavaScript/TypeScript

There are three main aspect of web development, namely – HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. HTML that provides structure and CSS that provides style but JavaScript which makes website interactive.

TypeScript is an improved version of JavaScript like we have C as C ++. TypeScript has a different feature from JavaScript This is the TypeScript’s type system.

3. Angular/React JS/Vue.js(Framework)

Angular is a TypeScript-based open-source web application framework. Nowadays most are used in Angular type frameworks. It is easy to develop a web application in a short time and it uses the structure of your code. So, it is a good option to choose this platform.

React is open-source library for developing web application. It allows you to write reusable components which can then use to create modem looking interactive web pages. It is backed by Facebook.

Vue.js is an open-source model–view–view model JavaScript framework for building user interfaces and single-page applicationsVueJS is an open source progressive JavaScript framework used to develop interactive web interfaces.

Back end development

Back end development focuses on a server-side environment. Back end development languages handle the ‘behind-the-scenes’ functionality of web applications. It’s code that connects the web to a database, manages user connections, and powers the web application itself.

Many different languages used in Back end web development.

1. Java

Java is the world’s most popular programming language—and for good reason. Java is extremely popular with desktop and business software developers, it is less beginner-friendly than a language like Python.

Java back end technologies can be used to achieve a lot of objectives like mobile application, website development, database connectivity etc.

2. PHP

We know PHP is server-side programming language. The setup is relatively easy compared to a language like Ruby on Rails. According to the PHP website, you can Collect form data, Generate dynamic page content send and receive cookies, Write command line scripting, Write server-side scripting Write desktop applications etc.

3. .NET (C#, VB)

The web application framework is used to build websites using languages like Visual Basic (VB), C#, F#, and more. C# is a high-level computer language, which means it allows developers to write programs that are independent of a particular type of computer.

C# is popular among developers because it has the power of C++ but is easier to use because it error-proofs commands that tend to trip up C++ users.

VB is a programming language that uses a graphical user interface to modify code written in the basic programming language. we can do with .NET  build desktop applications, create mobile apps build web applications and games, work with big data and more.

4. Ruby

Ruby is a web development language built on top of the Ruby programming language. Ruby on Rails has a set of tools that allow you to simply create basic tasks. Ruby involves little back end work, enabling developers to create and launch applications quickly. It is similar to Python in that it’s fantastic for prototyping. We can do with Ruby Automate repetitive tasks, Build web applications Build mobile applications and games, Create prototypes And more.

5. Python

There’s a reason Python is the fastest-growing programming language. The versatile language is used for both web and desktop development. Its syntax is simple and easy to understand compared to other back end languages. Some of the most popular uses for Python include Cross-platform shell scripting Quick automation, Simple web development etc.

6. SQL

Structured Query Language or SQL is the most common query language. SQL is used to interact with databases. Its pronounced by squal. SQL is great for beginners to learn since it’s a declarative language. A query language like SQL is great for those who want to take advantage of the wealth of knowledge stored in databases.

Database for web development

A database is must need for any software development and which database to choose is one of the main requirement for software architecture.

1. ORACLE

Oracle is the best database for any mission critical commercial application. Oracle is king in the race for most popular databases. its really famous among all developers, easy to use, well-written documents, amazing new features.

2. MySQL

MySQL is used in almost all the open source web projects that require a database in the back-end. MySQL is part of the powerful LAMP stack along with Linux, Apache and PHP.

3. Microsoft SQL Server

The most widely used commercial DBMS.It is platform dependent. This is Microsoft’s flagship Database product. If you are stuck in a company that heavily uses Microsoft products, you might end-up working on MS SQL Server.

4. MongoDB

MongoDB is a cross-platform NoSQL database. It is written in C++, C and JavaScript programming languages. You can use this database for mobile apps, real-time analytics, IoT, and can provide a real-time view for all your data. MongoDB uses internal memory so the data is easily accessible. You can process a large amount of data simultaneously.

5. DB 2

This database supports the relational model but in recent years products have been extended to support object-relational features and non-relational structures. It supports private as well as cloud environments. It supports most of the data science languages to handle simple or complex frameworks.

6. Microsoft Access

Only one installation needed .MS Access is DBMS from Microsoft that combines the relational Microsoft Jet Database Engine with a graphical user interface and software-development tools Like Microsoft SQL Server, it’s used is circumscribed Windows Games, Web servers, Presentations And more.
