1) Samsung beats Xiaomi in overall mobile phone market

International Data Corporation(IDC) has released year-over-year statistics of India's smartphone market. The agency has claimed that there has been sharp decline of (-50.6%) in the second quarter to 18.2 million units, as the country remain under lockdown through the first half of the quarter. Through feature phones shipments declined by (-69%) YoY to millions units in 2020. They still managed to occupy 35.5% of the overall mobile market. However, this is the lowest ever for the segment. Features phones sales ad more than decent smartphones sales have provides South Korean company Samsung a lead in the overall mobile phone market share of 24.0%, followed by Xiaomi and Vivo.

2) Microsoft to Invest in ShareChat

ShareChat is in talks with Microsoft Corporation for an investment of around $100 million in the India Contest Sharing platform, two people aware of the development said. If the deal materializes the Microsoft investment will be about a what ShareChat is looking to raise in the latest funding round, the first person said on condition of anonymity. ShareChat is, however, likely to raise funds from existing investors before closing deals with new ones, a second person familiar with the development said. The deal might take a couple of months to close as the talks are at an early stage, this person added.

4) New Mini PCs for your pocket

There was a time when computers require floors and floors of space even for the simplest of computations and now's its common for everyone to carry a small computers in their pockets. However the evolution of computers has taken us even further with components measuring in nanometers. The T98 Mini gets $GB of DDR3 RAM and 3GB of each eMMC Flash for internal storage. The computer is powered by the Allwinner H6 system-on-chip which gets four Cortex-A53 cores with a Mali-T720 GPU. The device, according to the report, can even support 6K resolution.

The device will be using Android 9.0 as the operating system which will support important office applications from both Microsoft 365 and even Google G Suite.

For all the functionality and the benefit of size, the product seems to be price reasonably well. On a website called Banggood, the T98 Mini is prices at $42.62 (approximately around Rs.3,190)

5) Half of all employees will be equipped with AI skills in 6-10 years- Microsoft
 
As artificial intelligence(AI) takes center stage in most companies, half of all the employees are expected to be equipped with AI skills in the next 6-10 years, according to a Microsoft India study released on Monday. This is the nearly one-and-a-half times more than current estimates.  
In India, 100% of the leading AI companies said they are actively building the skills of their workers or have plans to do so. Over 935 employees at these firms have already been part of re-skilling programs. notably, 98% of the employees surveyed among all the AI companies were highly motivated for re-skilling.



The combination of skilling and AI deployment is helping business succeed with 94% of senior executives from leading business already seeing value from AI deployment. These business are cultivating employee skills across every category ranging from advanced data analysis and critical thinking to communications and creativity.
